Develop and Document a Disaster Recovery Plan

Overview:

We are a B2B software company whose services are critical to our clients' operations. We are heavily reliant on a single data center and do not have a formal plan to recover from a major outage.

The Challenge:

We have no documented Disaster Recovery (DR) plan. In the event of a catastrophic failure (e.g., data center outage, natural disaster), we would be unable to recover our services in a timely manner, leading to significant financial losses and reputational damage.

Problems Caused:

The absence of a DR plan puts our business at extreme risk. There is no clear path to restoring services, and our team would have to improvise under high pressure, likely leading to extended downtime and data loss.

Proposed Method:

We need a professional to design a complete DR plan. This project involves defining Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), outlining a step-by-step recovery procedure, and identifying necessary resources and communication channels. The plan should be a living document that can be tested and updated.

Required Skills:

• Expertise in Disaster Recovery planning.
• Knowledge of cloud-based DR solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Experience with backup and restoration methodologies.
• Strong technical documentation skills.

Experience Required:

5+ years of experience in IT operations, with a proven track record of creating and implementing DR plans.

Delivery:

A detailed and comprehensive Disaster Recovery plan document.

Support:

We require 3 weeks of post-delivery support to review the plan with our team and assist with initial training and simulations.
