We are seeking an experienced and highly meticulous freelance Wireless Network Design Specialist to architect a robust, scalable, and secure wireless network for our growing enterprise. Our current infrastructure requires a complete overhaul to support increased user density, demanding applications (e.g., VoIP, video conferencing), and enhanced security protocols across multiple buildings.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end design process, from initial requirements gathering and site surveys to final blueprint creation. We require a design that ensures high performance, seamless roaming, advanced security features, and easy manageability.
Key Deliverables & Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed site surveys, including RF planning, interference analysis, and capacity planning.
- Gather comprehensive requirements from various departments regarding user density, application usage, security policies, and future growth projections.
- Design a multi-building wireless network architecture (WLAN topology, AP placement, channel planning, power levels) optimized for performance and coverage.
- Develop a detailed security strategy for the wireless network, including WPA3, 802.1X authentication, guest access, and segmentation.
- Define QoS policies to prioritize critical applications like VoIP and video.
- Specify required hardware (Access Points, Wireless LAN Controllers, Antennas) and software, including licensing recommendations.
- Create detailed network documentation, including logical and physical diagrams, IP addressing schemes, security configurations, and implementation guidelines.
- Provide recommendations for network monitoring and management tools specific to the wireless infrastructure.
- Present the design to stakeholders and incorporate feedback.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in designing and implementing enterprise-level wireless networks.
- Deep expertise in WLAN standards (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be), RF principles, and wireless security protocols.
- Proficiency with wireless design tools (e.g., Ekahau, iBwave).
- Experience with leading wireless vendors (e.g., Cisco Meraki, Aruba, Ubiquiti UniFi, Fortinet).
- Strong understanding of network segmentation, VLANs, and firewall rules in a wireless context.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
- Certifications such as CWNP (CWDP, CWAP), CCNA Wireless, or Aruba Certified Design Expert (ACDX) are highly desirable.
